Haiti Kombit USA

Emeline Alexis, the Protocol and Community Liaison officer at the Mayor of Miami's Office knew that there had to be something that she and the Haitian community could do to show America their support after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon so she called Assad Francouer, a veteran Haitian vocalist and asked him to write a song. Together they would ask many of the popular Haitian stars to contribute their voices and talents to the recording of "Lavi Telman Kout".

Alexis didn't stop there, she quickly assembled a committe, the Haiti Kombit USA foundation. Members of Haiti Kombit USA included a group of local Haitian television programmes such as Island Magazine, the Haitian Television Network and The Zone to raise funds for the United Way . Over $12,000 has been raised so far.

On Thursday Oct. 17th the Haiti Kombit USA organization held a function at the North Miami Senior High Auditorium to present the song for the first time to the public. Many of the singers from the recording were present, including Assade Francoeur, Gazzman Pier of Nu Look, Gracia Delva, Richard Nemorin of D'Zine, Ginou Oriole and Sabine of Saima. Copies of the Lyrics from the song "Lavi Telman Kout" were distributed to the audience, Assade Francoeur then proceeded to teach the audience the melody and the stars were then brought on stage to perform the song. The audience was also shown the video of the song which was produced by Sly Productions.
