During a major shake-up in the opposition United National Congress, Boldon was appointed to Trinidad's upper house of parliament by the opposition United National Congress.
The United National Congress is going through a major overhaul, as both Roy Augustus and Robin Montano have both left the party. Both it appears, had major issues with party leader and former prime minister Basdeo Panday, which have prompted resignation calls, and for newly-elected leader Winston Dookeran to take charge of the UNC.
Boldon commented: "I can be a bridge not only between the young and old in this country but between both parties in this country".
As an Olympic medalist, Boldon won 3-bronze and 1-silver medal in the 100-metre and 200-metres at 1996 and 2000 Olympic games.
