(JIS): In celebration of Jamaican art, the United States based Artist Resource Kollectiv (ARK) is currently hosting an exhibition entitled, '3 Jamaicans at the Rongio Gallery', in Brooklyn, New York for the entire month of November.

The featured artists are sculptor David Pinto and Intuitive painters, Albert Artwell and Deloris Anglin.

ARK founders, Jamaican Sheryll Durrant and Bruce Zeines, said that they were "immensely proud" at having played an integral role in highlighting Jamaican culture in New York City. "We have received tremendous support from members of the public, as they have been extremely receptive to this exhibition," she added.

Mr. Pinto was born in Kingston, Jamaica and is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. He also trained with renowned artist Koie Ryoji in Aichi, Japan. His work has been widely exhibited in Jamaica, Japan and the United States. In addition to his work as an artist, Mr. Pinto conducts workshops at the Good Hope Plantation in Trelawny, Jamaica.

Mr. Artwell was born in Catadupa, Jamaica. His work has been featured in many prominent travelling exhibitions, including SITES: Jamaican Art 1922-1982 (Smithsonian Institute) and Jamaican Intuitives (Commonwealth Institute). In recognition of his work, Mr. Artwell also received the Bronze Musgrave Medal from the Institute of Jamaica earlier this year.

A native of St. James, Jamaica, Mrs. Anglin began painting in 1979 after being encouraged by her husband and fellow artist, Mr. Artwell. Although her work has been exhibited at the National Gallery of Jamaica and the Mutual Life Gallery in Kingston, this is the first time that Mrs. Anglin's work has been shown in the United States.

The exhibition will culminate in a closing reception on November 29 at the Rongio Gallery in Brooklyn.
