Listen to the Interview (real audio)

Afiwi: It gives I-man great pleasure to know that Afiwi.com reaches everyone throughout the world, and a lot of people have made Afiwi.com their choice. One such bredren is bonafidely Gramps Morgan from Morgan Heritage. Gramps! Blessed greetings to the-I this afternoon.

Gramps: Yes, greetings!

Afiwi: Greetings me bredren.

Gramps: I-I

Afiwi: Quite a few of our viewers might not know who you are, but you’re from a famous family. You want to take a second to let Afiwi.com’s visitors know who is Gramps Morgan and Morgan Heritage?

Gramps: Well this is Gramps, keyboard player and one of the vocalists from Morgan Heritage. I’m the tall one with the glasses you-know, with the baritone voice. Peter is the tenor voice.

Afiwi: Yeah-yeah, Nice one. We get to over-stand that you’re a frequent visitor to Afiwi.com.

Gramps: Yeah-man! Always a check out what’s going on on the ‘Net you-know?

Afiwi: What makes Afiwi in your perspective very interesting and appealing?

Gramps: Because it’s a website that’s not only for Reggae music, but Caribbean music. It gives people a chance to check out what’s going on on our culture and our music as a people ; as Caribbean children of the diaspora. So it’s a good thing when we can tune in and get information on a whole bunch of different things. So we can feel like “A-fe-wi”!

Afiwi: (laughs) Well “A-fe-you” (its for you) for true! Because “A-fe-wi” bredren for true!

Gramps: Truly

Afiwi: True true. So the family and everybody’s doing fine. What is the family doing right now, as far as current plans for 2002?

Gramps: What’s planned is that we’re working on the new album in the studio right now. It’s about 70% complete. What we’re getting ready to release in the next couple of weeks is “Morgan Heritage Family & Friends Volume 3”; which you know, Volume One was released 2 years ago with Capleton “Jah Jah City” which was also on his album; “Liberation”, “Never” by LMS. Songsby Bushman, Jah Cure. Volume Two had Buju Banton, Anthony B, Jah Mason, and a lot of new talent that we’re always trying to expose. So now we have Volume Three coming out featuring Beres Hammond, Luciano, Morgan Heritage, Everton Blender, Ultimate Shines. A whole bunch of new artists as well again LMS. It’s going to be a great CD though, it’s gonna be a double CD. So Volume Three is on its way. We’re also working on a project called “Shashamane City”, which is a CD that we released with the Ethiopian World Federation and the Ethiopian Orthodox Coptic Church of North and South America, that is on the streets right now. You can get it now, it’s available to the public. That’s to raise money for the development of Shashamane in Ethiopia, a land that has been granted by His Imperial Majesty to the children of the diaspora.

Afiwi: Rastafari! Give thanks for the beautiful works that you and the family members of Morgan Heritage, LMS, and also the matriarch, “Papa”, for the beautiful works that you’ve continued to bless us with this year and; Afiwi.com is in full support of Morgan Heritage. You can get to read up a lot more about them on Afiwi.com. Check our links page and it’ll lead you directly to Morgan Heritage. Is there one final word Gramps that you’d like to leave with the people who visit Afiwi.com?

Gramps: Yeah, we-a-tell-dem-seh, love JAH and live. Keep his commandments and keep his name holy, in the name of His Imperial Majesty. Follow the teachings of His Imperial Majesty, the FIRST Christian King of Israel. We say “ROCKERS! Leggo the slackers!”

Afiwi: Rastafari

Gramps: Bless
